Community - Do we really need community? Why do we need Christian community? Do we really need to gather with other believers? Can’t we be spiritual without being religious? Do we have to be one or the other? Can we be both? If we seek to be both spiritual and religious - we will be authentic Christians, authentic church members who trust in God’s saving grace and love.

Confirmation Program

Worship Services

St, Luke’s Confirmation program consists of two years of instruction for 7th and 8th graders.  Our confirmation class is held on Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.  The semester topics are:  Choices, Jesus, Decisions, and Faith.  The goal is to aid these adolescents in their faith journey as they study the Bible and how God’s Word offers guidance in connecting their faith with life.

This class is taught by a teacher with more than 30 years of classroom experience.  Then following six weeks of final instruction by Pastor Anne Durboraw, the confirmands, in 9th grade, confirm their faith in Christ Jesus as part of a  Sunday worship service.

When we gather into community, into Christian community – something wonderful and miraculous happens – we are drawn by God’s love and power into sacred place where Christ is at work.  Without faith, without the community of believers, we will struggle with the terrible things that happen in our world, in our families.  Paul, who wrote letters to the earliest worshiping Christian communities, uses a powerful image to illustrate this; we are like clay jars, common clay pots (2 Cor. 4:7). Our lives are so fragile and all we have is the power of God within us.

- Snow Cancellation Policy -

If the snow emergency plan is in effect one hour before any service – the service is cancelled.   (you can go to CHART.MD.GOV website – click on traffic advisories)

For example.  If the snow emergency plan is in effect at 7:30 a.m. then there is no 8:30 service.  If it’s in effect at 10a.m. then there is no 11 a.m. service.  Same holds true for evening services or special church events during the winter months.

Please note: If the 8:30 am service is canceled due to inclement weather, Sunday School is canceled.
