Ash Wednesday - A very meaningful nighttime worship service, when the pastor places ashes on our foreheads. A Lenten meal of soup and bread, along with a short worship time is offered every Wednesday during this special time of the year. Holy Thursday - On Holy Thursday, our church has communion around the table in Fellowship Hall. This is a very impressive service. We have the meaningful Tenebrae service on Good Friday. All this leads up to our beautiful Easter Sunday when we celebrate the risen Christ. Christmas Eve - Christmas Eve is a wondrous time at St. Luke's. A family service is offered at 7:30 P.M. This is a time when parents bring their children who participate with music and the placement of the figures in our beautiful manger scene. Our second service is at 11:00 P.M. with beautiful choir music, bell ringing, singing, sermon, and trumpeters. The candle-lighting part of this service is beautiful. We also are offered Communion. Outdoor Service & Picnic - Held on our beautiful lawn near a grove of trees. This normally takes place in June, and our young people have the honor of presiding over the entire service. Blessing of the Animals - Pastor Anne Durboraw has conducted several "Blessing of the Animals". This is very meaningful to those of us who have animals. This service is carried on outdoors if the weather permits. Healing Service - This past year Pastor Anne Durboraw conducted a healing service. What a nice feeling one had after lighting candles for the ill and troubled and guest pastors praying for us individually, if preferred. Friendship Sunday - For several years, St. Luke's has held a Friendship Sunday Service and Luncheon. This is a time to invite others to join us even if they are members of another church. This is a special occasion and is well attended. |
